Abstract
This paper introduces The Simsulator, an open-source platform for simulating evolved virtual creatures (EVCs). Using the EVC model set out by Karl Sims’ seminal paper, The Simsulator provides tools to evolve, breed, and experiment on virtual creatures. The authors provide an overview of the platform’s interface and underscore its potential as an educational tool for investigating evolutionary concepts and artificial life themes. The authors also propose extensions to the platform that may be implemented in future versions.
